Everton Stars Spread Easter Cheer At School And Hospital

Everton players have spread some early Easter cheer by delivering chocolate eggs to children at a local school and hospital.

Portuguese forward Beto and compatriot Joao Virginia dropped in to surprise youngsters on the wards of Ormskirk Hospital on Tuesday, while Dwight McNeil and Ben Godfrey were dishing out treats to ecstatic pupils at one of Everton’s School Supporters’ Clubs on the same afternoon.

As well as handing over tasty gifts to lift the spirits of patients and their families, Beto and Virginia spent time colouring and playing games with youngsters at the Lancashire hospital – and met staff to thank them for their dedication to looking after those under their care.

Meanwhile, winger McNeil and defender Godfrey went back to school to tour the corridors and surprise varying year groups with their stash of goodies.

Virginia said: “It was brilliant to surprise the children and give them a little something to cheer them up.

“It’s never nice for a child to be in hospital and it's obviously a difficult time for the parents, too.

“They seemed really happy to see us and some of the kids even did colourings for us to take away, which was really great.

“And I'm sure they'll all enjoy their eggs, too!”

Everton’s School Supporter Club initiative launched in 2016 and aims to bring together young fans in a school setting to build friendships through their love of the Club and football.

And, as well as getting the surprise eggs, the youngsters got to ask questions of McNeil and Godfrey, pose for photos, and show them what they have been working on ahead of their upcoming Easter holiday.
